Yesterday and Today

... but not in that order.

Today was busy. Not rapid fire (except for one part) but generally we were always doing something. My tips are improvng as I'm able to handle more tables and once you throw in salary I took home $80 today. I can live on that type of wage while I write. On the downside towards the end of my shift I was hit by a strong wave of dizzyness and thought I was going to fall over. Happily I didn't but I'm disturbed at not knowing where it came from. I'm not sick, I wasn't hungry or dehydrated, and I'm not particularly sleep-deprived. I will be on the lookout for it happening again.

The Invasion starts tonight. That means a live jazz band and the Memorial Ballroom starting at 9:30 (intro to east coast lesson at 9:00). Dancing is such a different experience in a ballroom, I really can't descrie it. Memorial is also probably my favorite ballroom to dance in out of the handful I've been to. Honestly, if you can get here tongiht for dancing you should. And if you think I'm talking to you specifically chances are you're right. All of you.

Yes, even you.

I'll be getting back to working on La Maupin under its new working title Touche (I hate that title) in a few minutes but I wanted to get this post done first. Possibly another one right after this but I'm still not sure if I want to do it.

I was out playing the l5r ccg last night. Now many of you who I've talked to have heard me exclaim over how it looked like there was going to be in Madison and that I'd probably be helping to run it in order to motivate its happening. Well it seems I won't have to, the guys actually got their gear in line and are making it happen themselves. There will be l5r larp Saturday nights next semester, in Madison. They're doing a new mechanics system and plot will be about 10 years after current metaplot. The setting of the game is a newly discovered island with boundless commercial potential due to the discovery of (I kid you not) chocolate.

Um, yeah. Well I'll give it a shot.

Clans are limited (no Crab, no Dragon, probably no minor clans, "no" Scorpion) as are character types (no non-clan monks). It's also going to be a highly political game. Here are the character concepts I've been thinking over:

- Phoenix yojimbo. This could be a lot of fun but I'm only interested if the person playing my shugenja is someone I already know. I'd like to do a sibling pair if anyone's interested but I don't think that's particularly likely.
- Lion Ikoma storyteller. I like telling stories and I haven't played a courtier yet.
- Mantis monk of Osano-Wo. A reverent drunken boxer. I like monks but I just played one in Beloit and I'm playing one (sort of) now in an online game.
- Daidoji trained as an Asahina shugenja. And pissed about it. Might be too militant for this game.

That's about it. G'bye all.

Movie Game

From conanmagruder:

Think of your favorite underrated film, type the name into Google and do an image search. Find the best pic and then post it in your journal, but don't say what the name of the movie is! Once you post the picture, it's up to your friends to figure out what the movie is from the pic you posted!
