Dance and a Bit More Aikido

So after aikido tonight I headed over to Union South for my first real Lindy lesson. The teachers were absolutely wonderful, especially compared to the previous Lindy teachers I had lessons from. The entire thing was an hour simply on the swingout, which is, as I understand it, the most basic Lindy move anyone actually does. In spite of that I only barely have it down but according to d33pthought it takes about a year to get a good one so I'm contenting myself with simply having had a productive lesson. No partner but the ratio favored follows so I'm okay. It turns out Althea, a girl I met at UWMBDA on Friday who's also looking for a serious partner, was there. May be I've found a partner.

In fact there's an important decision about dance i need to make soon. I've been thinking about getting into competition ballroom since Darah mentioned the competition in Minneapolis. All I know about it is that it's in February at some point, probably too late for me to find a partner, let alone train but I could probably do the one after, whenever and wherever that is. Here's the problem: the Madison competition group meets Saturday afternoons in the exact time slot as the Katori Shinto Ryu group.

Costs are about the same after a few years. The Ryu would be slightly cooler but the dance would be something I could use. A lot.

Do I want to be a warrior or an artist?

Can anyone else think of the ironic best person to talk to about this?
